SKINCARE

The importance of skincare

The best way to achieve flawless looking skin is to start by having a really good skincare regime in place. Firstly you need to know what skin type you have. Below are some examples of skin types...

Oily - Shine on the skin, greasy feel. Usually open pores, could be prone to breakouts.

Dry - Flakey patches, might feel rough or tight.

Combination - Typically oily in the T-Zone area (Nose & Forehead) with dry areas, a mixture of oily & dry.

Normal - A normal skin type will be a nice balance, not too dry or oily with a smooth skin texture.

Once you have figured this out you will need to find the appropriate skincare products to match your skin type. If you have ever wondered why your skin looks worse after you have done your makeup this could be down to not giving your skin enough TLC or not using the right base products.

If you are wearing makeup it is important to remove it properly at the end of the day . I find double cleansing works best, using cotton pads & cleanser to gently remove your makeup and then using a face wash to wash your face with followed by a serum, eye cream and moisturiser . In the morning you can prep your skin again before makeup application.

Exfoliating is a great way to improve your skins texture if you find you have flakey, bumpy , rough skin, this will remove the dead skin cells and give you a smoother skin surface . Be careful not to over exfoliate as this can sometimes irritate especially if you have sensitive skin, even exfoliating once a week you will notice a difference and not to forget to add your moisturiser afterwards.

Protect your skin

It is super important to protect your skin throughout the whole year with sun protection. At any age this is the easiest way to help prevent many factors such as sunburn, skin aging , pigmentation and skin cancer. There are many SPF creams available on the market and this should be an essential part of your skincare routine.
